Breacher booked for return to Salisbury

William Muir has picked out the British Stallion Studs EBF Stonehenge Stakes at Salisbury as the target for his exciting debut winner Breacher.
Muir, who trains in partnership with Chris Grassick, drew comparisons with his multiple Group One winner Pyledriver after Breacher’s victory at the Wiltshire track in June.
Keen not to overrace the son of Cracksman ,this year, Muir is waiting almost six weeks before letting him loose once more.
“He’s been brilliant ever since, but I made a conscious decision not to run him for five or six weeks because he’s a big horse with a big future,” said Muir.
“I’ve picked out the Stonehenge at Salisbury on August 12. He’ll start to come back into galloping work this week and he looks fantastic, he’s thrived since his race.
“This horse could race, he’s not like Pyledriver who was a weak two-year-old, and right from day dot he’s always shown he was really talented, but I just think if you overrun two-year-olds you can’t expect them to be good three and four-year-olds.
“I’m not saying he’s not going to have four races, because he probably will, but he’s not going to run twice in two weeks, I’ll space his races out.
“I’m hoping he’ll go on and be a 10-furlong horse. Us small trainers go looking for these types and we’ve been lucky to have found a few in our time.
“I said on the day he could possibly be the best I’ve trained, but when he went for his debut at Salisbury like Pyledriver did at the same age, he was showing more than him. He’s much stronger at the same stage so potentially he could go on and do anything, but he’s got to prove it yet.
“He’s got the right temperament, the right body and physique and the legs so when you get a good one you don’t rush them.”
Muir added: “It’s lovely for Rob (Haim, owner-breeder). He’s been with me since day one and has had a lot of winners, but it would be lovely if he had one that was pretty special.
“That is why he does it, he’s not a big breeder, it’s on a small scale, but wouldn’t it be lovely for someone like that to get a really nice one.”
