Owen Burrows is content to watch how the Prince of Wales’s Stakes plays out at Royal Ascot before confirming his next move with Gethin, with both the Coral-Eclipse and Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud possible options.
The son of Ghaiyyath bravely went down on his shield in his first outing in the colours of Wathnan Racing, beaten only a neck by John and Thady Gosden’s star 10-furlong performer Ombudsman in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes.
It was arguably a career-best performance against a quality line-up and leaves Burrows excited to test the waters at the highest level either home or abroad on the first weekend in July.
Burrows said: “He’s got two options, either the Eclipse or Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. We’ll let Royal Ascot go and see what happens there, then see what the ground is like at both Sandown and in France and have a chat from there.
“He’s come out of the Brigadier Gerard well and has had a few canters and seems grand.
“It was a very good run and I was very happy with him, it’s encouraging for the future.”
