Top tipster Dave Nevison has selections at York and Newmarket on Saturday, with his nap of the day running in the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap, all live on Racing TV.
2.05 York: Insanity
Alan King’s gelding has only been seen three times this season, which has been a disappointment after a promising reappearance at Pontefract.
However, he didn’t run a bad race last time out at Ascot, and now returns to York where he ran two of his best races last season.
He was a close second (off a 2lb higher mark) here 12 months ago, and arrives here following a similar break that he had last season.
Given the form of the yard, I expect Insanity to go well at a price here, and he could easily be fresher than several of his rivals who have had a much busier time this summer.
2.40 York: Frankies Dream
Frankies Dream has been a bit of a nightmare for punters, and has gone off at short prices in several handicaps, only to start slowly, pull too hard, and meet trouble in running.
However, if there is a scenario that suits him well, it is a big-field handicap over this sort of trip at York.
He will get the fast pace he needs to aim at, which should also enable Jennie Candlish’s gelding to navigate the gaps opened up by weakening rivals.
Frankies Dream had a mid-season lull in his form, but performed much better at Newcastle last time out, and has ideal conditions.

3.17 York: Binhareer
Binhareer was my biggest bet of the year in the Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup last time out, so it was disappointing to not even get a semblance of hope of my wager landing.
It was pretty much over at the start, and after breaking, slowly the William Haggas-trained gelding never looked happy, and never figured.
However, Binhareer bounced back from a disappointment at Ayr to land this race in great style last year, and I am happy to give him a chance to make amends again here.
Binhareer is clearly held in very high regard (he still holds a Group One entry) and has also already run a good race over this course and distance this season.
I won’t be even recover my stake from last time if he wins (!), but I can’t see anything else with Binhareer’s potential in this.
3.40 Newmarket: Shrimp Shady
I backed Berlerbeyi in last year’s Club Godolphin Cesarewitch Handicap, and will never forget the ride Billy Loughnane gave him. Ian Williams’ charge is 10lb higher on Saturday, but arrives here on the back of a Doncaster Cup second, so is clearly in peak form.
It is only that he is a relatively short-priced favourite that puts me off, and I think there are better value betting options elsewhere.
I wouldn’t be pricing up anything of Andrew Balding’s at 66-1 this season, given the good form of the stable pretty much all season.
Shrimp Shady certainly has to be forgiven a poor run last time out, but it is relatively easy to put that disappointment down to turning out quickly after a customary good run at Ascot 11 days earlier.
The selection may not have pounds of improvement up his sleeve, but his latest win came off just a 4lb lower mark, and he is already a winner this season over this extreme trip, and under this rider.
He is a rock-solid performer and appears likely to give his running, so shouldn’t be the price he is for a place, at least.
