Top tipster Dave Nevison has taken aim at Friday's action at Huntingdon, live on Racing TV, and has identified three contenders who are worth siding with on the seven-race card.
When the going is described as heavy at Lingfield, it is closer to unraceable than most courses, and some horses simply do not act on it at all.
It very much looks as though this gelding was one of those, therefore it is safe to ignore his latest run at that track when last seen. Grandeur D’Ame has won just once for Alan King since he came over from France, and that victory came on good ground, so it seems very likely he will be much happier on this slightly easier ground here.
He looked a useful chasing prospect on his reappearance after eight months off in November where he jumped well out in front before tiring close home.
If he can bounce back from his below-par effort last time out, he has a very sound chance of going close here.
Has clearly been expected to develop into a chaser but after four poor runs over the larger obstacles, it seems pretty conclusive that is not the case so far, and he reverts to hurdles here off what is certainly an attractive mark.
Mister Sweets has only had three runs in handicap hurdles and won the first of them off a rating of 104. He has dropped to 102 here (which is 8lb below his highest hurdles mark) but is back on decent ground plus has a lot of things in his favour to run a big race, if he is reinvigorated back over hurdles.
He is reunited with Sean Bowen who has won on him without headgear, which is left off again here, and there are enough reasons to think Neil Mulholland’s charge will return to form on Thursday.
The Changing Man is on a roll and threw away a win when idling at Taunton last time out but might well resume winning ways here.
He made the running there and possibly was in front for too long, but certainly doesn’t have to do that here as there are several who will want to be on the pace.
This scenario will likely suit The Changing Man much better and even though he has been raised 5lb for not winning, I believe he is on the upgrade and defy that raise.
