Royal Ascot tip

Additions to the notebook below, but first, Racing TV presenters and pundits were asked to highlight one horse to follow throughout the season to readers of the Racing TV Club Magazine.
I highlighted GALILEAN QUALITY, who bids to win for the third time from four starts this campaign in the King George V Handicap at Royal Ascot on Thursday.  He's 33-1 with a couple of bookmakers and his hold-up style will be ideally suited to the big field.

Morbeh

Morbeh won for the second time since appearing in the notebook when backed from 11-4 into 15-8 in the 1m2f three-year-old handicap at Chester on Friday.
Roger Varian's classy son of Dubawi was held up in midfield and made steady headway over two-out.
He was pushed out to lead over a furlong out and kept on well to beat the progressive Silver State; front two clear.

Silver State

Silver State joins Morbeh in the notebook.
Jack Channon's improving son of Lucky Vega was keen early and led but was headed over a furlong out.  He rallied gamely and was beaten only a length.
Silver State remains exciting when able to dominate.

Invincible Crown

Invincible Crown endured a wretched passage when a fast-finishing close fourth in the 5f handicap at Thirsk on Tuesday.
William Pyle's mount was hampered at the start and switched right in rear two-out.
Hampered against the stands' rail, Invincible Crown switched left and ran on strongly inside the final furlong.
He would surely have won with better luck and deserves a change of fortune having reared at the stalls over course and distance last time.

So Alex

So Alex almost produced immediate profit for this page with a fast-finishing second when stepped up to 1m6f at Carlisle on Monday.
Jack Doughty's mount was awkward at the start but made headway from rear when in the clear two-out.  He was keeping on very well in the final furlong and beaten half a length by Trojan Sun who was always prominent.
So Alex had been similarly unlucky when finishing strongly second at Ripon this month.  He is surely ready to win.

Gunalt Wavelength

At Doncaster on Sunday, Gunalt Wavelength landed a punt (17-2 into 9-2)in the 7f three-year-old handicap.
Jo Mason's mount, who was stepping back up from 6f and taking on geldings, made headway from midfield over two-out.
She led inside the final furlong and just held favourite Norfolk Blue.
A winner at Ripon last time, Gunalt Wavelength is progressing.

Black Rock Beauty

In the same race, Black Rock Beauty was beaten less than a length, despite being easy to back.
The Faheys' son of Dandy Man, who was wearing cheekpieces for the second time, was prominent and pressed the leader over a furlong out.
He hung right inside the final furlong before keeping on in the final one hundred yards and can remain competitive off his mark.

Weekend Roar

The same day at Salisbury, Weekend Roar ran into very smart winner Sonny Parvenue in the 6f novice.
Hugo Palmer's quality son of Supremacy made headway from midfield inside the final furlong and kept on well towards the finish.
The winner holds entries at Group One level but Weekend Roar has plenty of talent too.
Bought for £105,000 as a yearling, the classy colt is a half-brother to Listed winner Room Service.

Recency Bias

On Saturday, Recency Bias wasn't beaten far in the 7f handicap at York, despite enduring a troubled passage.
Karl Burke's consistent four-year-old dwelt at the start and waited for room towards rear over two-out.
He switched left and made headway inside the final furlong.
Nearest at the finish, Recency Bias would have been closer with a better start and a clearer run.
The gelded son of Havana Grey was keeping on when second to progressive Realign over 6f at Carlisle last time and benefited from this return to 7f.

Chapter

The previous day, Chapter improved in first-time blinkers and a step up to 1m2f in three-year-old handicap at Sandown.
Charlie Hills' well treated son of Dark Angel exploited a rating of 75 with a positive ride and went clear a furlong out.
He kept on well and can surely defy a rise, or two.  Chapter was well beaten at Nottingham on reappearance last month but that was his first start after a gelding operation.

Gravastar

Across the card, Gravastar caught the eye finishing strongly on debut in the 6f fillies' maiden at Goodwood.
Joe Leavy's mount was carried left at the start and ran green in rear.
She made headway inside the final furlong and Richard Hannon's fillies often improve for a run.  Gravastar is a half-sister to nine winners between 7f and 1m4f and the dam won a Group Three over 1m6f.
She is out of Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory, so expect improvement when up in trip.
