Recent Deauville Listed scorer Behike is on course to contest the Starman At Tally Ho Garrowby Stakes – the £70,000 feature of YorkMix Family Raceday at York on Sunday.
The three-year-old Night Of Thunder colt produced a commanding performance in winning by two lengths over six furlongs in France last month.
Trainer George Scott is intending to keep the speedster in Listed company – albeit with a 3lb penalty for his Deauville success – with this weekend’s Knavesmire assignment.
Newmarket-based Scott said: “Behike's maturing all the time, physically and mentally. You can see that from his race record.
“I think everyone was impressed with him in Deauville. He travelled well, put the race to bed in the style of a progressive horse, and this (the Garrowby Stakes) fits very well in his development.
“I think the track will really suit him, he's a very clean, fluent mover – a slick six furlongs at York is ideal for him.
“It could be his last run of the year before hopefully moving up in grade next year. I think he’s a really lovely horse in the making.”
George Scott is looking forward to saddling Behike in York's feature on Sunday afternoon.
Behike is just one of many fascinating possible runners for the Starman At Tally Ho Garrowby Stakes.
Last season’s Group Two Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes hero Lifeplan features among the 16-strong entry, as does Division, who landed the 2025 Rockingham Stakes over this course and distance.
The 2023 Haydock Sprint Cup victor Regional also has winning form on the Knavesmire, as do Trefor, Dickensian and Extremely Zain.
The popular fixture, which takes place on the same date as the Malton Open Day, starts with both a Shetland Race then a Pony Race Series contest before the seven races under Rules begin at 1.30pm, with the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing “Confined” EBF Maiden.
