John Oxx's smart colt Rayeni is set for a return to the track in the near future having enjoyed a short mid-season break. The son of Indian Ridge was unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile and ran a fine race on his only outing of the current campaign when second to Mastercraftsman in the Irish 2000 Guineas.Oxx has elected to keep his powder dry with the chestnut since, but the Currabeg handler now has one eye on a race at the Curragh in the early part of next month. He said: "Rayeni is coming along nicely and is in fast work at the moment, so he'll probably run at the Curragh in the second week of September. He's in the Solonaway Stakes (September 13) which is a Group Three race over a mile, but we are just looking to get him out around that time."Oxx added: "He hasn't had any problems since the Guineas, he just likes soft ground so we took the decision to wait until the autumn with him. As it turned out we had a wet July and he could have run, but he isn't a horse you would want to keep on the stretch all the time anyway."
