York: Race 2 | 3yo Handicap
LIMESTONE looks a very progressive horse.
He won his first three, including the Queen’s Vase at Ascot, and was then slightly disappointing in the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp last time out.
That was a Group 1, though, and he’s now stepping back into a handicap. He has a nice draw and he should go well.
It looks a competitive contest, and he has to give a fair bit of weight away. Infraad has obvious claims off the back of a win at Goodwood and there are a lot of progressive types in here.
York: Race 3 | G1 City Of York Stakes
Bar his first run in the French 2000 Guineas, PUERTO RICO has been slightly disappointing this season.
With that said, I think that the rain and the drop to seven furlongs will suit him.
It’s a competitive field. Lake Forest looks a seven-furlong specialist and Notable Speech is the classiest horse in the race. He disappointed at Ascot, but the seven furlongs could suit him well.
You can make a case for others in the race. Ten Bob Tony has been in great form this year, Satono Reve is of interest stepping up to seven furlongs, while Flora Of Bermuda, Zavateri and Power Blue all have chances.
York: Race 4 | Ebor Handicap
EMIT ran well for me at Royal Ascot. I’d say Joseph [O’Brien] has had one eye on this race for a while.
He’s nicely drawn, and I think he will be suited by the mile-and-six-furlong trip so hopefully he can go close.
You can make a case for over half of the field; the likes of Tarriance, Opportunity, Daiquiri Bay, Hopewell Rock all have a solid chance but that should be the case in the Ebor.
York: Race 5 | 3yo+ Handicap
I haven’t ridden KING OF LIGHT before, so I don’t know a lot about him, but he’s been running well this season for Stuart Williams.
He wasn’t far away in the Stewards’ Cup and ran an eye-catching race last time in the Sprint Series Final at Windsor.
He looks to have a decent chance.
