Senorita Bonita connections take stock after Queen Mary run

Connections of Senorita Bonita will let the dust settle before deciding on the next move for their exciting filly, who went close to Royal Ascot success in the Queen Mary.
The speedy daughter of Starspangledbanner commanded a sale-topping 900,000 guineas at the Craven Breeze-Up sale and after advertising her credentials when making an encouraging winning debut at Nottingham, was sent off 8-1 fourth favourite to follow up in Group Two company at the Royal meeting.
Despite finding Aidan O’Brien’s Victorious too good on the day, the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained youngster left the Queen Mary with her reputation firmly enhanced, with her team set to soon sit down and map out future running plans.
Chris Wall, racing manager for owners Victorious Forever, said: “We were delighted with her run and I think we bumped into an exceptional filly in Victorious, but we were very pleased with how our filly ran.
“She’s come out of it OK, but we haven’t finalised our next step and want to digest all what happened last week and get the filly back cantering and excercising and see what Simon and Ed make of her before deciding on a plan for something else.
“She’s obviously got a lot of speed and given she is quite a big filly I think there is quite a lot of further improvement to come.
“The initial thought was we would stick to five furlongs but obviously five furlong options are quite limited and trip will be one of the main discussions we need to have. Everyone just needs a few days to recover before we reset and go again.”
