True Love gets Moore’s Irish 1,000 Guineas vote

Ryan Moore has gone with the proven form of True Love in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas over his mount in the Newmarket equivalent, Precise.
Moore rode Precise first time around on the back of her stellar juvenile season which saw her win the Moyglare Stud Stakes and the Fillies’ Mile.
Sent off favourite at Newmarket, after a slightly interrupted preparation, she had no answer to her Aidan O’Brien-trained stablemate True Love and Moore has decided that he thinks she will confirm that form.
O’Brien said: “I’m not so sure how hard a decision it was for Ryan this time as True Love is two from two already this year.
“She was very impressive the last day at Newmarket wasn’t she?
“We expect Precise will come forward from Newmarket, too.”
O’Brien also runs Beautify, second to Precise in the Moyglare Stud Stakes last year.
Sukanya is an interesting runner for Jack Channon, who is searching for his first Classic winner in a race his father Mick won with Samitar in 2012.
She was an impressive winner of the Fred Darling at Newbury and steps up to a mile for the first time.
Channon told Opulence Thoroughbreds, who own Sukanya: “She had a fantastic two-year-old season without perhaps hitting the heights it looks like she might do this year.
“We probably put her in her races a bit too much last year and we’ve figured out now just dropping her in and exploiting that turn of foot is the way to go.
“She’s light-framed so doesn’t take much work so we did little with her through the spring but when we stepped up her work two or three weeks out from Newbury it was pretty much sensational and you saw the results.
“To win a Classic is a dream of mine, if it happens on Sunday that will be fantastic.
“It’s a big step up in class, she’s going up to a mile and travelling abroad but she looks to have all the tools to be successful over there.
Donnacha O’Brien’s Kensington Lane impressed in the Athasi Stakes but would need to take another step forward to trouble the favourites.
“She’s in good form, she won nicely the last day,” he said.
“I think the ground is important to her and it looks like she’s going to get her ground on Sunday.
“We’ve been very pleased with her and we’re really looking forward to seeing her run.”
Charlie Appleby’s Abashiri ran well at Newmarket for a filly having just her second outing when she finished fifth.
She can be entitled to improve for that but she will need to.
Appleby told www.godolphin.com: “We have been pleased with how Abashiri came out of her run at Newmarket, when she emerged with plenty of credit on her first turf start.
“The experience has brought her forward and we are hopeful of some improvement, which will be needed if she is to be involved at the finish.”
Richard Hughes’ America Queen, second in the Nell Gwyn, can also not be discounted.
