3.47 Carlisle: Bibendum
Bibendum hasn’t been placed since he won four starts ago off a mark of 56, but the form figures don’t tell the whole story as last time he met trouble in running, and previous to that, he had the widest draw at Pontefract.
Julie Camacho’s five-year-old gelding is now back down to a mark just 2lb higher than that win and is due a change of luck.
The latest win came at Leicester, which is probably the closest resemblance to Carlisle, so with a good draw in stall 5, Bibendum has every chance of a good run.

4.47 Carlisle: Zermatt Star
Zermatt Star made a promising debut on good to soft ground in Ireland last season, but then disappointed on extremely heavy ground on two subsequent runs.
She was bought very cheaply and moved to Tony Coyle and came good last time out on her third start for the yard.
The three-year-old filly was wearing cheekpieces for the first time at Ripon as well as racing on good to soft ground for the first time since her racecourse debut, and both factors may have helped her defy her 40-1 odds.
She was a convincing winner that day, so with the headgear once more and similar ground, she may well be able to follow up under a 6lb penalty for that three-length win.
5.17 Carlisle: One Night Thunder
One Night Thunder won this race last season and then backed up with another course and distance success a few days later so is clearly very well suited by Carlisle.
Gemma Tutty’s gelding hasn’t been in the same form since and was disappointing last time out despite being very well backed.
Obviously a return to form was expected and now that he has returned to a mark lower than his latest win and only 1lb higher than when winning this race.
It will be interesting if there is market support once more and I expect a return to form to come sooner rather than later.
