World Pool preview show: selections for Sprint Cup day at Haydock

By Racing TV
Last Updated: Thu 3 Sep 2026
Niall Hannity is joined by Martin Dixon and the Tote's Jack Ready as they examine Betfair Sprint Cup day at Haydock and give their selections for the big races.
Last year's winner of the feature sprint Big Mojo returns, bidding to become only the second dual winner of the race, with American Affair, Kind Of Blue, Almeraq and Marvelman all in the mix.
And it's the last-named who has caught the eye of Martin, who said: "The horse I'm most interested in is Marvelman for an Andrew Balding team that is absolutely flying.
"He ran really well at York, to finish third was a really creditable run and up there with his best performances.
"He was carrying a penalty when trying to give weight to Paborus.
"He handles soft ground well and he's an enthusiastic horse, so six furlongs on slow ground should be fine for him.
"I think he's got the potential to be better, still."
In the other races on the card, Niall has one at "a massive price" in the Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup Handicap.
"Golden West had useful form for Karl Burke. They went steady last time, it didnt suit him and he then ran on," he said. "If they go quick, I can see him hitting the frame at a big, big price."
Jack, meanwhile, is taking a different view in the same handicap. He explained: "Stressfree caught my eye in the Ebor. His form this season hasn't been much to write home about but I think he's coming back to form at the right time and is becoming well handicapped. On ground that should suit I give him a big chance."
