Celeron back in training and given Killavullan Stakes option

By Racing TV
Last Updated: Sun 6 Sep 2026
Michael Callaghan reports Celeron to be back in training following his disappointing effort in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes last month.
An impressive winner of the Railway Stakes in July, the Mohaather colt was sent off just 6-4 for his first foray into Group One company, but beat just two horses home after suffering a minor injury.
O'Callaghan told Luck On Sunday: "It was the biggest chance we've had in a Group One, so for him to bomb out like he did was painful. But it came to light quite quickly that he was lame post race and had badly jarred his right hind leg.
"He's had three weeks off, and was only back this Monday, but we were glad to find a reason.
"He's a big physical who looks like he will be a better three-year-old so it might be a blessing in disguise that we had to pause him for a few months."
The Guineas next season is the long-term aim - "all things point to a mile being his trip" - but the colt may not be finished for this season just yet.
O'Callaghan detailed: "He might have another run this year. We have big options like the Dewhurst or something like the Killavullan [at Leopardstown in October] where he can get his confidence back."
