Daryl Jacob goes behind the scenes at Alan King's ahead of the Ebor

Daryl Jacob visited Barbury Castle to ride Sky Bet Ebor Handicap contenders Daiquiri Bay and Paradias and was particualy impressed with one of the Alan King-trained runners.
In a change from their previous relationship in the National Hunt sphere, the former jump jockey-turned-Racing TV pundit joined King on the gallops and was taken with the condition of both horses as he got involved in a piece of work on the gallops.
Daiquiri Bay won the Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot in June, his second win of the season, and particularly pleased Jacob in his preparations.
"He's a gorgeous horse, isn't he?" he said. "Very simple. Uncomplicated."
King agreed - "he's been a much easier horse to train this year" - and puts the improvement down to gelding him at the end of last year.
He added: "The reason we ran in the Copper Horse was because we thought it would be the most suitable ground of the week, but it was quick enough and he broke the track record!"
Paradias is the other yard hopeful, a bigger, stronger seven-year-old on a career-high mark of 107 who has run well in group company this season without winning.
"He's a much bigger type," explained Jacob. "He's lazier, behind the bridle, I had to squeeze him out in front. But I think he will run well."
King added: "He's in quite a hard place with his handicap mark, we've been running him in group races where he has been running well without winning. But he might as well take his chance."
