3.39 Leicester: Irish Nectar
Michael Herrington’s team of handicappers have had a very good season and I don’t think it is too late for him to get a win out of Irish Nectar who has endured a considerable losing run, but has gone well recently.
He last won a race in October 2024 and also ran his best race last season on his final turf run last October. He has dropped 10lb since that good run and ran well enough under a 5lb claimer last time to suggest he might be ready to score again soon.
With soft ground, a low draw in a big field, a strong pace to run at, and a fully fledged jockey on board, he could go well at a big price.
4.14 Leicester: Law Of Design
Law Of Design contested a series final at Redcar last time out and ran a really good race from 2lb out of the handicap, finishing a close up fifth on similar ground to what he is likely to encounter here.
He is able to run off his true mark here and might be able to land his first win for a while. He has now dropped a massive 20lb since he was sent handicapping and, with Paul Mulrennan back on board, he has a strong chance of landing his first handicap.
4.47 Leicester: English Time
English Time has not been put into a handicap before now and could easily have got in very lightly here. His three runs since his debut have all worked out very well and even his victory, in what looked to be a weak maiden event at Ffos Las, is demonstrably stronger form than thought.
It is only an absence since that win in June that casts some doubt about his chance here, but with the Harry Charlton stable being in such strong form at present, I am very happy to take the chance. A look at the market may be advisable.
