Katie Midwinter's Friday tips: Five to back at four different venues

Katie Midwinter's Friday tips: Five to back at four different venues

The former Tipstar champ Katie Midwinter takes aim at four different courses on Friday, all of which are live on Racing TV.

4.10 Thirsk: Majestic

The Jack Channon-trained Majestic has dropped 10lb over the past twelve months and is 2lb lower than when second to Claymore on his penultimate start at Windsor.
He's well treated at the weights on the best of his form and could bounce back from a disappointing effort in a higher class Newmarket contest at the July Festival when last seen.
The experienced eight-year-old last won in a competitive 16-runner Bahrain handicap early last year, having previously finished second to Snellen.
He was only narrowly denied by Prince Of The Seas from a much higher mark in a Goodwood handicap over a mile-and-a-half last summer and, although he's struggled to pose a serious threat since, he may be worth keeping onside having shown he still retains ability in recent months.

5.35 Gowran Park: Greydreambeliever

Four-year-old filly Greydreambeliever ran a creditable race in Listed company when last seen at the Galway Festival, finishing fourth to Pivotal Attack at odds of 20-1, and could give another good account of herself back in handicap company.
She was only narrowly denied by Rion Rubette twice over course-and-distance earlier this season and, despite being rated 8lb higher this time around, has shown progression and could be capable of further improvement.
The daughter of Dark Angel had shown some form for Karl Burke previously, beating Stormy Impact on debut and featuring in the Dick Poole Stakes as a juvenile, before changing hands for 30,000gns last autumn.
For Joseph O'Brien this term, she has put in a number of promising performances and a first win in Ireland should be within her reach.

6.10 Gowran Park: Summer Snow (E/W)

The Peter Lawlor-trained Summer Snow is currently 9lb lower rated than her most recent success and has course-and-distance winning form in her favour as she bids to add to her six career wins.
She hasn't been able to seriously threaten this season, but has dropped significantly in the weights as a result which could allow her to return to the winners' enclosure in these familiar surroundings.
The six-year-old mare has shown she still retains ability having finished fifth to Treasure Rose at Down Royal on her penultimate start, improving on her first two runs of this current campaign.
She failed to get into the race she won twelve months ago as a reserve at the Galway Festival recently, but this could be a feasible opportunity from a lenient rating should she show improvement on her previous efforts.

6.53 Haydock: Dance A Jig

Handicap debutant Dance A Jig could be able to strike from an opening mark of 88 under Hector Crouch for Ralph Beckett, who has an all-time strike-rate of 20 percent with his juvenile runners at this track.
The son of Naval Crown has plenty of black-type in his pedigree being out of a daughter to Nunthorpe Stakes winner Lochangel in Strictly Dancing, who has already produced Group Three winners in Dancing Star and Foxtrot Lady.
The two-year-old colt shaped with great promise in both of his first two starts, finishing three-quarters-of-a-length behind A Bear Affair in the Brocklesby on debut before reversing the form when narrowly beaten by Adaay Of Scarlett, who has since finished second in three Group Two contests, including in the Coventry Stakes, in an Ascot sprint.
The form has been franked and there could be plenty of further improvement to come from Dance A Jig who can be forgiven for a disappointing effort in the Windsor Castle Stakes, in much calmer waters here.

7.12 Newmarket: The Caltonian (E/W)

Although he's yet to win on the Turf, The Caltonian could be worth keeping the faith in having been able to make the frame on this surface in the past and currently on a 22lb lower rating than his all-weather mark.
The seven-year-old gelding is representing an in-form Linda Perratt yard, that is currently operating at a 50 percent win-rate, and has championship-seeking Oisin Murphy in the saddle, who is three from four aboard the stable's runners.
The Caltonian has been dropped 1lb for a recent fifth-placed effort behind Jordan Electrics at Ayr and drops in class as he seeks a first win on turf. He stuck to the task well late on in his latest run and could give a good account of himself in this contest from a lenient rating.
