3.15 Haydock: Art Lover
Art Lover has run consistently well all season without any reward, but he can belatedly get his head in front now switched back to a slower surface.
It will be the first time that the William Haggas-trained three-year-old has raced with slow in the going description since landing a Ffos Las novice last October.
Although he has threatened on several occasions this season he hasn’t quite gone through with his finishing effort, which hopefully the application of a set of cheekpieces can change.
If the new headgear has desired the effect he should be capable of running well with conditions in his favour.
3.40 Newmarket: Alcarath
Alan King has already landed one major handicap this season following the victory of Daiquiri Bay in the Ebor up at York and Alcarath can add another by bagging the Cambridgeshire.
This gelded son of Acclamation ran well on his previous effort over course and distance on his return to action this season when finishing a close up fifth on ground that would have been lively enough for him.
It was only late on that he was picked up last time out over a mile and a quarter last time out at Sandown Park, which suggests that a drop back a furlong could be right up his street.
With a good draw to work from close to the rail in stall one, and the application of a set of cheekpieces, he looks worth siding with at a reasonable price.

3.50 Market Rasen: Sure Touch
Sure Touch is not getting any younger, but a return to a course and distance he has excelled over could be just the ticket he needs to return to winning ways.
At Bangor last time out, and Uttoxeter the time before, the Olly Murphy-trained 10-year-old appeared to just have his stamina stretched over three miles.
Dropped back to an extended two miles five furlongs, which he has two of his three previous starts over at the Lincolnshire venue looks a wise move.
While he is still two pounds above his last winning mark, Lewis Saunders takes a handy five pounds off his back in a race that could be set up for him.
5.30 Market Rasen: Un Sens A La Vie
Un Sens A La Vie failed to hit the heights expected of him last season, however with another summer on his back he could go on to fulfil that potential this season.
It was over course and distance that he looked an exciting type ahead of then finding the step up to Grade Two level too much on his next start at Cheltenham.
His third behind Old Park Star at Kempton Park reads well, while his fourth in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury was not bad considering the state of the ground.
Despite suffering an odds-on defeat in April it could have been that he had enough by then, and following that run the handicapper has eased him a further two pounds.
This looks a competitive race to return in, but the Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies-trained looks to have more improvement in him than most.
