Six September Stakes rivals for Constitution Hill

By Racing TV
Last Updated: Thu 3 Sep 2026
Constitution Hill will face a strong sextet of opponents in Saturday's William Hill September Stakes at Kempton, though his chance has been enhanced by the absence of Group One winner Bay City Roller.
The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old won his first two starts on the level earlier in the year but now faces a much sterner examination of his Flat credentials in the mile-and-a-half Group Three.
Bay City Roller, runaway winner of the Group One Coronation Cup when last seen in June, was expected to line up but has not been declared.
The market leader is Gethin, trained by Owen Burrows, who was an impressive course winner earlier in the season but will need to bounce back from a poor run in the Coral-Eclipse last time.
Two Godolphin runners Dubai Future, himself a multiple Group race winner, and German Group One winner Tornado Alert, stand their ground, along with the King and Queen's Warrant Holder.
Almeric (Andrew Balding) and Pride Of Arras (Ralph Beckett) complete the list of declared runners.
Constitution Hill's owner Michael Buckley is reportedly keen on a crack at the Melbourne Cup in Australia later in the season, with the former Champion Hurdler - who will be ridden by Billy Loughnane for the first time - needing to finish in the first three on Saturday in order to take the next qualification step towards the November showpiece.
