The Irish Angle: Johnny Ward's tops tips at three tracks

I will be covering Tramore on the channel on Saturday for their Flat offering. The fields are relatively small it is a  fascinating card nonetheless.

The Irish are out in force at Perth, where layers will beware Noel Kelly, while Sean McParlan will have a well-supported runner there too.

By the tough stayer Watar, it was understandable that a staying trip brought about progress from Drumlee Myth at Cartmel and he looks to have got away lightly with just 4lb more. He was placed in all three bumpers, including in Ireland, and that renders a mark of 88 still hugely exploitable. He travelled like he was well-in at Cartmel.

He's 0-17 on the all-weather but usually finishes in the first three so there are two ways of looking at him. Declan McDonogh will suit, he will stay out of trouble in all probability up top and give it a good go. Two years ago, he was touched off in this race when rated 105; and he's 90 this time.

I suspect this filly has more to offer now upped markedly in trip – she is very much bred for it – by her excellent and in-form handler. She lacked cover from a wide draw over an inadequate mile at Naas last time and still appeared raw, without being knocked about.
