While the UK and Ireland have deep-rooted traditions in the sport, international racecourses contribute enormously to the diverse world of horse racing. From the iconic tracks of the United States to the cutting-edge venues in Australia, South Africa and the Middle East, these international racecourses set the stage for world-class competition. Each country brings its own customs, conditions and overall racing cultures, something which adds a whole other dynamic to these international racecourses. Types Of International Racecourses

Horse racing around the world is far from uniform, and international racecourses differ widely depending on the climate and traditions. Globally, the three primary types of tracks seen around the world are as follows:

Flat International Racecourses

Flat racing is the most widely practised form of racing globally, especially in regions with warm or moderate climates. This form of racing emphasises speed and pace strategy over distances ranging from sprints to longer-distance endurance tests. Flat racing takes place on varying surfaces such as grass, dirt, and synthetic turf, all of which influence the race's dynamics. Some notable international horse racecourses that have turf flat races include Flemington in Australia, Longchamp in France and Tokyo Racecourse. On the other hand, some famous dirt flat tracks are venues such as Meydan in the UAE and Churchill Downs in the USA, the home of the iconic Kentucky Derby.

Jump International Racecourses

Steeplechasing, hurdle and jump racing are less common globally than flat racing; however, they are passionately followed in certain regions. While most jump racing occurs in the UK or Ireland, a number of countries also hold National Hunt-style races. Internationally, jump racing can be found in France, Japan and Australia, as well as other pockets and other international racecourses around the world. Though jump racing is more niche in the international scene, there are still a number of select venues that perceive its challenge and drama, which fans at Racing TV may enjoy.

All Weather International Racecourses

Designed to perform in all climates, all-weather racing takes place on synthetic surfaces and is becoming increasingly popular across the world. Especially in regions prone to rainfall or extreme temperatures, these all-weather international racecourses allow meetings to be held constantly, reducing cancellations and enabling year-round action to be watched at Racing TV.
