Hannon believes Pershaada may be overpriced in Nunthorpe

Richard Hannon feels his exciting juvenile filly Pershaada may be overpriced as she prepares to take on her elders for the first time in the Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes at York next week.
Not beaten far when fourth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, the daughter of Persian Force stepped up again to beat the boys in impressive style in the Molecomb Stakes at Goodwood a fortnight ago.
The Middleham Park Racing-owned two-year-old has since been added to York’s Group One sprint feature at the second entry stage and hopes are high that she can follow Lyric Fantasy into the record books, who emerged victorious as a juvenile filly for Richard Hannon snr in 1992.
“She’s been great since Goodwood, she’s very straightforward and very simple,” said Hannon.
“It is wide open that division and the two-year-olds have run well in this historically with the weight advantage they get and she is very quick.”
Due to her age and sex allowance Pershaada will carry just 8st on the Knavesmire, meaning she will receive upwards of a stone and a half in weight from each of her rivals.
Hannon added: “Silvestre de Sousa is going to ride her and someone told me she is about 12-1, which seems generous.”
Wesley Ward’s American raider and runaway Royal Ascot winner Bacio is the 3-1 market leader.
