Cosmos d'Ainay was disappointing in a maiden hurdle at Tramore nearly a year ago, but the long absence afterwards suggests an excuse was found.

He looked far more like the horse that had bolted up in a Sligo bumper when winning a Cork maiden hurdle in similarly easy fashion a month ago. This will demand more but he's got scope for plenty of progression.

The winner of that Ayr maiden, Weleyff, won on his nursery debut off 81 and is now rated 86. That suggests Charlie Johnston's runner is well treated off this mark of 75 and he can land this.

The absence of both Great Barrier Reef and Victorious makes this a lower grade affair than it might have been.

It wasn't a vintage field that Celeron beat in the Railway Stakes over this course and distance, however, he won comfortably in smart style and, against this opposition, a repeat of that effort might well be good enough.
